The screen is on stage, the buttons are in your hand
On event night the draw screen runs big on a projector or LED wall, while the operator needs to be somewhere else: next to the MC, in the audience, or backstage. This page shows you how to put the draw screen in fullscreen, control it right on the projector, and press Start draw from a different phone or computer.
Three ways to control, pick the one that fits your stage
All three control the same draw screen. The winner is always picked by the server, no matter which device you press on.
Right on the projector
The computer showing the draw screen
Press the fullscreen button, then use the 4 buttons in the bottom-right corner.
You need: Nothing to set up
Control page on the web
A browser on another phone or laptop
Open the admin, go to Operations → Control. Start, confirm and cancel results remotely.
You need: “Remote control” turned on in Event settings
Luck4You Event app
iPhone or Android phone
Download the app, sign in, pick the event, then open Remote control.
You need: “Remote control” turned on, plus the app
Put the draw screen in fullscreen
Open the event’s draw screen on the computer connected to the projector. In normal mode you switch prizes with the 2 arrows next to the prize name and press the big draw button in the middle. When you’re ready to go live, press the fullscreen button in the bottom-left corner to hide every toolbar.
- 1Fullscreen: fills the whole screen with the draw stage. Press it again, or hit Esc, to go back.
- 2Draw button: starts the draw for the selected prize. Once a prize has all its winners it turns into Next Prize to move on to the next one, as in the screenshot.
- 3Prize arrows: move to the previous or next prize. In fullscreen these arrows hide to keep the projected screen clean.
The 4 buttons in the bottom-right corner
In fullscreen the audience sees only the draw stage. The operator still has a small set of buttons in the bottom-right corner to switch prizes and draw without leaving fullscreen.
- 1Previous prize: go back one prize. Locked while a draw is running so you don’t lose the round in progress.
- 2Draw button: press to start. For a manual-stop prize it turns into a square, press again to stop. For an automatic prize it shows a spinner until the result is in.
- 3Next prize: move on to the next prize.
- 4Replay the last result: reopens the winner screen for the latest round, handy when the MC wants to read the name again. Locked if the selected prize has no winners yet.
Tip: Hover over a greyed-out button to see why it’s locked.
Turn on remote control for the event
To press from another phone or computer, turn this feature on for each event. Go to the admin, pick the event, open Settings and switch on Remote Control.
- 1Remote Control: when on, the card turns green and reads “The draw screen can be controlled from another device via the Control page”.
- 2Switch: turns it on or off. The change saves right away, no Save button needed.
Once it’s on: Control appears under Operations in the left menu, and the draw screen starts taking remote commands. If the draw screen was already open, reload it to make sure it picked up the new setting.
Note: new events start with this feature off. If you only control from the projector you don’t need it, and leaving it off saves the draw screen one network connection.
Run the draw from the Control page
On the operator’s phone or laptop, sign in with the same account, open the event and choose Operations → Control. Every button here goes straight to the draw screen on the projector, almost instantly.
- 1Control under Operations. Only shown when the event has remote control turned on.
- 2Current prize: pick a prize in the box, or press Previous / Next, and the draw screen switches to it right away.
- 3Start draw: the big round button. While a manual prize is spinning it becomes Stop draw. Once a prize has all its winners it shows Prize exhausted.
- 4Connected to this event: how many draw screens, controllers and viewers are open. You need at least 1 draw screen before pressing start.
- 5Results list: winners by prize, updated as soon as a draw finishes. Press Delete next to someone to cancel their result.
Confirm or Skip? After each round, 2 buttons appear under the draw button: Confirm keeps the result and closes the celebration screen on the projector, Skip drops the result you just drew (say, when the winner isn’t in the room). Skip is only available for prizes that draw 1 winner at a time.
The standard run on event night
- 1On the computer connected to the projector, open the draw screen and press fullscreen.
- 2On the operator’s phone, open the Control page (or the Luck4You Event app).
- 3Check the Connected to this event card: Draw screens should be 1.
- 4Pick the prize to draw from the list.
- 5Press Start draw. For a manual prize, press Stop draw when the MC calls it.
- 6Press Confirm to keep the result, then move on to the next prize.
On a phone
The Control page stacks into one column on small screens. Open it in any browser, nothing to install.
Keep only 1 draw screen open. If Draw screens is more than 1 (shown in yellow), another draw tab is open somewhere. Close it so remote commands only reach the screen on the projector.
Open event adminControl from the Luck4You Event app
If you prefer an app to a browser, the Luck4You Event app for iPhone and Android has a Remote control screen with the same buttons as the web page. Sign in with the same account, pick the event, then tap Remote Control on the main screen.
Get the Luck4You Event app
Free on the App Store and Google Play.
- 1Remote Control: the tile under Engagement on the main screen. If the event hasn’t turned the feature on, the app says so and offers a button to open Event settings.
- 2Live: the line under the title shows the app is connected to the event.
- 3START DRAW: the big button, which becomes STOP DRAW for manual prizes. After a round you also get Confirm and Skip. Once a prize has all its winners the button shows Prize exhausted, as in the screenshot.
- 4Prize list: tap a prize and confirm to switch the draw screen to it.
- 5Results: see winners by prize, cancel someone’s result, or restore a cancelled one.
Frequently asked questions
A few things worth knowing so the draw runs smoothly.
Do the phone and the projector need to be on the same Wi-Fi?+
No. Commands go over the internet, so the phone can be on 4G or a different Wi-Fi, as long as both devices are online.
I can’t find Control in the admin menu?+
That event doesn’t have remote control turned on yet. Go to Event settings and switch on Remote control, and Control will appear under Operations.
The Control page says “No draw screen is open yet”?+
The draw screen isn’t open, or it was opened before you turned on remote control. Open (or reload) the event’s draw screen on the projector and Draw screens will go up to 1.
Why is the Start draw button greyed out?+
Usually one of three reasons: the connection dropped (wait a few seconds for it to reconnect), an automatic prize is still spinning (the button unlocks when the result is in), or the prize already has all its winners (the button shows Prize exhausted, pick another prize).
Can several people control at the same time?+
Yes. You can open the Control page on several devices; the count shows under Remotes in the Connected to this event card. Agree on one person pressing draw so you don’t press over each other.
Does pressing from my phone affect who wins?+
No. The winner is always picked at random by the server, whether you press on the projector, on the Control page or in the app.
What if the network drops mid-event?+
The Control page and the app reconnect by themselves once the network is back. Commands older than 60 seconds are ignored, so the draw screen won’t suddenly start spinning when the connection returns. If the network is patchy, you can still press directly with the bottom-right buttons on the projector.
If I turn remote control off, can I still run the draw?+
Yes, right on the projector as usual. Only the Control page and the app’s Remote control screen stop working.
